Aurora Kirchner-McClain joined the OakHurst Golf Club (in Porter, Texas) &    Windrose Golf Club (in Spring, Texas) instructional staff in late 2006.   She taught at the BlackHorse Teaching Center & Golf Club in Cypress, Texas beginning in early 2001.   During her six year stay at Blackhorse,  Aurora developed and taught all of the junior and adult programs;  she also built an extensive client base by giving individual lessons to men, women & juniors of all ages and levels.  Her major influences are her dad, Peter Kirchner, BlackHorse course designer Jim Hardy, BlackHorse Director of Instruction, Marty Fleckman, Texas A&M Women's Golf Coach Jeanne Sutherland, David Clay and her husband Taylor McClain.

A native of Houston, Aurora played at Klein High School and at Texas A&M University.  She went on to play professionally on the Futures Tour, the Asian Tour, Players West & Women’s Gateway Tours.  Having no idea that she would ever teach, she luckily and blessfully found her passion by becoming a teacher of the game she loves.

Her goals as a golf teacher are  to help others understand the basic fundamentals of the set up and swing, and to help each student find their individual tendencies that need to be corrected for lifelong improvement. In Houston, Aurora is best known for her "Golf Girls Night Out" campouts.  She held five camps at the BlackHorse Teaching Center in which 20-40 gals would pitch tents on the tee line.  The girls enhance their golf skills with glow in the dark balls while the greens and tee lines were lit up by strings of Christmas lights.  For the gals who attended, it was a fun way to learn.  For Miss Aurora the camps inspired her after seeing the improvements in so many golf swings that she videoed.  Miss Aurora also realized that the "campouts" showed how her body and mind can not recover from the all nighters quite as quickly as an adult!

In 2006 Aurora landed on the covers of Houston's Health and Fitness Magazine (April 2006) and Golf Houston Magazine (Feb 2006).  She has also been featured in Texas Golfer Magazine (July 2004) the Houston Chronicle (Dec 2004; May 2006), Texas Women's Golf Magazine (May 2005), and Avid Golfer (Oct 2005 & Jan 2006).   She completed instructor training with the Nicklaus/Flick Golf school in Jan 2001, thanks Charlie Epps; and been an observer/worker in three Jim Hardy's Plane Truth Clinic in Nov 2005 and Oct 2006.
